Book (A Defense and Apology to Mohammad and the Qur’an) to English writer John Davenport- Critical Analytical Study. (English)

This study dealt with the book “A defense and apology for Mohammad, Peace be upon him, and the Qur’an” with criticism and analysis. It initially reported the writer John Davenport’s defense to the Holy Qur’an, and the Prophet Peace be upon him, with the researcher’s comment by increasing confirmation and clarification of what was right in it, and as a sign and warning of what was wrong with it. Then, the study praised the errors of the book, between what is suspected of causing offense and what is not. Its topics varied between a prophetic biography, metaphysical issues, historical information, and more. With a statement of the truth in all of that, from the Book of Allah and the sayings of the commentators, the hadiths of the Prophet Peace be upon him and the words of the commentators, in addition to the approved references to the purified biography of the Prophet. Then, the study focused on what prompts the good faith of the writer, as he mentioned sensitive issues related to the Prophet and the Qur’an, which were exploited by other orientalists to defame Islam, but Davenport mentioned them with the utmost objectivity and fairness. In conclusion, the study indicated that despite this objectivity that characterizes the book, it did not include the author's declaration of the entry of Islam, and the recognition of the prophet hood of the Prophet was only a hint. تناولت هذه الدراسة كتاب دفاع واعتذار لمحمد والقرآن بالنقد والتحليل، فأوردت بدايةً دفاع الكاتب الإنجليزي )جون ديفنبورت( عن القرآن الكريم والنّبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مع تعليق الباحثيْن خلال ذلك؛ بزيادة تأكيد وإيضاح لما أصاب فيه، وإشارة وتنبيه لما أخطأ فيه. ثم ثنّت الدراسة ببيان أخطاء الكتاب بين ما فيه شبهة للطعن، وما ليس فيه. وتنوعت موضوعاتها ما بين سيرة نبوية، وقضايا غيبية، ومعلومات تاريخية، وغير ذلك. مع بيان وجه الحقّ في ذلك كله، من كتاب الله تعالى وأقوال المفسرين، وأحاديث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وكلام الشُّرّاح، بالإضافة إلى المراجع المعتمدة للسيرة النبوية المطهّرة. ثم قفّت الدراسة بالكلام على ما يدفع لحُسن الظنّ بالكاتب، حيث ذكر قضايا حساسة تتعلق بالنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والقرآن، استغلها غيره من المستشرقين للطعن في الإسلام، ولكن "ديفنبورت" أوردها بمنتهى الموضوعيّة والإنصاف. وفي الختام، أشارت الدراسة إلى أنّه بالرغم من هذه الموضوعية التي اتصف بها الكتاب، إلا أنّه لم يتضمن إعلان الكاتب دخول الإسلام، ولم يرد فيه الاعتراف بنبوة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلا إشارة وتلميحاً .
