THE FRANCOIST RED PENCIL TOWARDS EXILED INTELLECTUALS: THE CASE OF THE HISTORIAN RAFAEL ALTAMIRA. (English)

This article aims to analyze the censorship of books by the republican and exiled historian in the postwar period, Rafael Altamira, under the dictatorship of General Francisco Franco. The Franco regime restricted the freedom of expression of intellectuals, some confined to silence and self-censorship, others condemned to exile as a form of cultural and political survival. In this sense, this work seeks to understand the history of censorship in Spain and identify the rules established by the censoring apparatus, as well as the way in which the prohibition, partial or total release of books was configured. The research was carried out, fundamentally, with the sources found in the Archives of the General Administration (AGA), located in the city of Alcalá de Henares (Spain), the National Library of Spain (BNE) and the Library of the Center for Documentation and Historical Memory of Salamanca. Este artículo propone analizar la censura de libros del historiador republicano y exiliado en la posguerra, Rafael Altamira, bajo la dictadura del general Francisco Franco. El régimen franquista coartó la libertad de expresión de los intelectuales, unos confinados al silencio y a la autocensura, otros condenados al exilio como forma de supervivencia cultural y política. En este sentido, se pretende comprender la historia de la censura e identificar la legislación establecida por el aparato censor, así como su funcionamiento y cómo se configuró la prohibición y la liberación parcial o total de libros. La investigación fue realizada, fundamentalmente, con las fuentes encontradas en los Archivos de la Administración General (AGA), ubicada en la ciudad de Alcalá de Henares (España), Biblioteca Nacional de España (BNE) y Biblioteca del Centro de Documentación y Memoria Histórica de Salamanca.
