    • Abstract:
Thinkers like Teaiwa and Hau'ofa, and many others, acknowledge the role of colonial struggles at sea, and refuse to limit the sea/ocean to a space that is either tamed, traversed or controlled, conceiving of it in more profound and emphatic ways. I The sea and International Relations i offers a collection of interesting contributions and new strategies for the discipline of International Relations (IR) to better engage with the sea and the oceans. The book takes as its starting-point the assumption that the sea/ocean has so far been under-studied in IR, as the discipline has traditionally been obsessed with territoriality on land.
