    • Abstract:
The present research described the effects of the pandemic on the support system of the urban elderly from the upper-middle-income group using a qualitative approach. The data was collected through an interview schedule and interview guide from 30 elderly and 10 of their caregivers respectively. The content analysis technique was employed to analyze the data and it was found that children, spouses, and care attendants were primary caregivers (90%). The impact on the support system of the elderly from the middle-income group was less severe and the resources for the continuation of life were arranged by their caregivers. Thus, with social support and the supportive behaviour of care providers, the difficult phase was managed by the elderly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
