The article discusses the impact of the 2022 drought on cotton producers in the Cotton Belt, exposing soil to wind erosion, poor nutrient uptake, and compaction. Several management practices for cotton producers include minimizing soil disturbance, maximizing biodiversity, maximizing soil cover, and maximizing living roots are discussed. It further discusses the benefits of cover crops in conserving moisture, improving weed control, and reducing soil erosion.
