Colombia's entry into the OECD: A view from international relations for latin America. (English)

This paper's objective is to carry out an analysis of the conditions for Colombia's entry into the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) based on the quality of life of its inhabitants, in comparison with the conditions of other Latin American countries. such as Chile and Mexico, all within the framework of international relations as a theoretical reference. A descriptive theoretical study method was used that, through the qualitative technique of content analysis, collected and analyzed information corresponding to the quality of life indicators related to well-being, education and per capita income for all OECD members during the years 2020 and 2021; finding that Latin American countries, especially Mexico, which already has almost three decades in the Organization, has not been able to equate its quality of life conditions to that of countries such as North America or Europe; likewise the capital cities: Mexico D.F. and Santiago de Chile show current similarity in indicators such as security, housing and community life. Colombia joined the cooperation entity two years ago under environments comparable to the current conditions of Mexico, which already has 28 years under the guidelines and recommendations of the OECD so, it is important to carry out a detailed analysis of the implications of the country's entry, in order to establish possible references based on the case studies of the other Latin American countries that have been part of the organization for several years. El objetivo del presente trabajo es realizar un análisis de las condiciones de ingreso de Colombia a la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económico (OCDE) en función de la calidad de vida de sus habitantes, en comparación con las condiciones de otros países latinoamericanos como Chile y México, todo dentro del marco de las relaciones internacionales como referente teórico. Se utilizó un método de estudio de tipo teórico descriptivo que a través de la técnica cualitativa del análisis de contenido recopiló y analizó información correspondiente a los indicadores de calidad de vida relativos a bienestar, educación e ingresos per cápita para todos los integrantes de la OCDE durante los años 2020 y 2021; encontrándose que los países latinoamericanos, en especial México, quien ya cuenta con casi tres décadas en la Organización, no ha logrado equiparar sus condiciones de calidad de vida a la de países como los norteamericanos o europeos; así mismo las ciudades capitales: México D.F. y Santiago de Chile exhiben similitud actual en indicadores como seguridad, vivienda y vida en comunidad. Colombia ingresó hace dos años a la entidad de cooperación bajo ambientes comparables a las actuales condiciones de México, quien ya cuenta con 28 años bajo las directrices y recomendaciones de la OCDE por lo que resulta importante realizar un análisis detallado de las implicaciones de ingreso del país, a fin de establecer posibles referentes con base en los casos de estudio de los demás países latinoamericanos que hacen parte de la organización desde hace varios años.
