The emigration of Ivorian women in Morocco: A migration of sedentarization or transit? (English)

Like most African migrant-sending countries, recent years have seen a feminization of the profile of Ivorian migrants. Although the West continues to be a social space of fascination for these candidates for migration, it is nonetheless true that intra-African mobility remains increasingly important in the field of migration. Indeed, migratory logics are no longer “marital” and/or support as has long been observed in the literature, but rather work migrations in the same way as those of men. Based on a qualitative approach and specifically on interviews, direct observations and documentary research, the purpose of this article is to analyze the logics involved in the migrations of Ivorian women to Morocco and the modalities of their insertion in the welcoming social space. From this study, it emerges that the feminization of the profile of Ivorian migrants in the Cherifien Kingdom is a response to the precariousness of their social living conditions in Côte d'Ivoire and the perpetual search for the improvement of these. Tout comme la plupart des pays africains pourvoyeurs de migrants, ces dernières années ont noté une féminisation du profil des migrants ivoiriens. Bien que l’Occident continue d’être un espace social de fascination pour ces candidats à la migration, il n’en demeure pas moins vrai que les mobilités intra-africaines demeurent de plus en plus importantes dans le champ migratoire. En effet, les logiques migratoires ne sont plus « maritales » et/ou d’accompagnement comme cela a été pendant longtemps observé dans la littérature, mais plutôt des migrations de travail au même titre que celles des hommes. S’appuyant sur une démarche qualitative et spécifiquement sur des entretiens, des observations directes et la recherche documentaire, l'objectif de l'article est d’analyser les logiques qui participent des migrations des Ivoiriennes au Maroc et les modalités de leurs insertions dans l’espace social d’accueil. De cette étude, il ressort que la féminisation du profil des migrants ivoiriens dans le Royaume chérifien est une réponse à la précarité de leurs conditions sociales de vie en Côte d’Ivoire et la recherche perpétuelle de l’amélioration de celles-ci.
