    • Abstract:
The article reports that fixed combination drug yields superior intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering. Results of a prospective, randomized, double-masked study demonstrate a fixed combination of travoprost 0.004 percent and timolol 0.5 percent administered once daily is safe, well-tolerated, and offers better IOP lowering than monotherapy using either of its components. Mean IOP levels at baseline in the three groups averaged almost 30 mm Hg at 8 in the morning and tapered to about 27 to 28 mm Hg in the afternoon. Within 2 weeks, all three treatments were associated with marked lowering from baseline IOP at all measurement times throughout the day, and their benefits were maintained throughout follow-up.
