    • Abstract:
      The article considers the problems of cooperation between the prominent Ukrainian historian and politician Mykhailo Hrushevskyi and the writer and public figure O. Konyskyi. The correspondence between them as well as the scientist’s youth diary are the sources of the study. It was emphasized that both individuals belonged to different generations and had dissimilar views on priorities in the national movement. It is noted that in the so-called Kyiv period in the life of M. Hrushevskyi O. Konyskyi took care of a young man, attracted him to the Shevchenko Scientific Society, facilitated his move to Lviv. However, later in their relationship a crisis arose. It was caused by the historian’s disappointment with the politics of the “new era”, his friendship with Ivan Franko, and his opposition to the nationalist’s party. All this led to a rift between M. Hrushevskyi and O. Konyskyi. The need for further research into the life and creative heritage of these figures of Ukrainian history and culture is noted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
