O “Pão Espiritual dos Soldados” e os Relatórios Confidenciais do Serviço Postal da Força Expedicionária Brasileira (1944- 1945). (Portuguese)

This research aims to present the governmental structure of censorship in the Postal Service of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (PSFEB) in Rio de Janeiro, at the end of the Second World War (1939- 1945) and the Estado Novo (1937-1945). The issue involves the analysis of the content of the letters written to the combatants and their repercussion on society at the time, especially because they represented an impact on the morale of the expeditionary soldiers. For the theoretical reference, we base ourselves on studies on the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, on the censorship applied by the Press and Propaganda Department through the School of Censors and on the history of mentalities in that period. With regard to methodological support, reports on correspondence censored by PSFEB were analyzed qualitatively, based on instructions on how to use letters as historical sources. The results point to a new perception about the structuring of a postal service that, at the time, was effective in its mission – transmitting the messages of private life and raising the morale of the combatant, even though they were in the chaotic scenario of total war. A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo apresentar a estrutura governamental da censura no Serviço Postal da Força Expedicionária Brasileira (SPFEB) no Rio de Janeiro, em fins da Segunda Guerra Mundial (1939-1945) e do Estado Novo (1937-1945). A problemática envolve a análise do teor das cartas escritas aos combatentes e sua repercussão na sociedade da época, sobretudo por representarem um impacto no moral dos militares expedicionários da FEB. Para o referencial teórico, nos embasamos em estudos sobre a Força Expedicionária Brasileira, sobre a censura aplicada pelo Departamento de Imprensa e Propaganda por meio da Escola de Censores e sobre a história das mentalidades naquele período. No tocante ao amparo metodológico, foram analisados de forma qualitativa, embasados por instruções de como utilizar as cartas como fontes históricas, os relatórios sobre as correspondências censuradas pelo SPFEB. Os resultados apontam uma nova percepção sobre a estruturação de um serviço postal que, à época, foi efetivo em sua missão – transmitindo as mensagens da vida privada e elevando o moral do combatente, ainda que estivessem no caótico cenário da guerra total.
