      A few hours before the Harvest Day lab, an instructor drives to the garden, cuts off and individually bags each plant with its marker stake and resident insects, and brings them to the teaching lab. 1. class="chapter-para">Students transplanting broccoli for the class garden at the first lab meeting of the fall semester. Graph I Brassica i variety suggestions: • Broccoli: attracts numerous pests and grows to medium size • Savoy cabbage: attracts numerous pests but grows larger Plants used should be of a reasonable size to allow a class of 15-20 students to evaluate all plants during the 2 h Harvest Day lab. Students also must turn in the plant damage ratings from their individual pre-harvest garden visit, either to be averaged with classmates' ratings and provided as part of the summary data or shown as a bar graph in that student's report.
