      The article discusses technological challenges in developing missile defense including detection, tracking, interception and destruction. Information is provided on the U.S. Army Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), MIM-104 PATRIOT and Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) projects and the U.S. Navy Aegis project. It highlights tracking innovations including the Tracking Layer Tranche 0, Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Glide Phase Interceptor and GhostEye MR.
