- Abstract:
The article explores how childlike creativity and aesthetics have inspired artists throughout history, notably 20th-century modern artists like Pablo Picasso, Natalia Goncharova and Paul Klee. Several popular children's books illustrated by artists and written about artists are discussed including a version of "The Little Mermaid" illustrated by Yayoi Kusama and "Dancing Through Fields of Color: The Story of Helen Frankenthaler" by Aimée Sicuro and Elizabeth Brown. Historical and theoretical insights are also offered, including an exploration of the statement "my could do that," which is often a criticism of nonobjective art.
