- Abstract: The process, which began as a result of Christoph Colomb's accidental discovery in 1492, has led to the emergence of the most diverse state in the world today in terms of race, ethnicity and culture. The United States, which at first assimilated this diversity and incorporated it into the main vein and formed an identity within this framework, was unable to assimilate the changes caused by the increasing waves of migration in the subsequent process and adopted multicultural policies. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the formation and evolution of American identity, which has occurred in the historical process with various components such as language, religion, race, ethnicity, ideology. In the study prepared for this purpose, historical and descriptive research methods were used. The study examined the evolution of American identity from the discovery of the Americas to the present day. At the end of the study, it was concluded that American identity was defined as monist, homogeneous and superior with the influence of modernism in the post-colonial and post-independence period, but that the definition and components of American identity changed as a result of the migration that took place after the regulations in the Migration Act of 1965 and the rise of ethnic and cultural identities to the fore with the influence of postmodernism. - Abstract: Christoph Colomb'un 1492'de tesadüfen keşfi sonucu başlayan süreç günümüzde dünyanın ırk, etnik köken ve kültür yönünden en çok çeşitliliğe sahip devletinin ortaya çıkmasına sebep olmuştur.
