- Abstract:
Macrotroponin, a complex of immunoglobulin and cardiac troponin (most often cardiac troponin I), is the most common cause of falsely elevated troponin levels. High-sensitivity troponin immunoassays are subject to false-positive error from either in vivo or in vitro interference, attributed to heterophilic antibodies, autoantibodies or macrotroponin.
