      The article comments on the attribution of the founding of the U.S. to slavery in the 1619 Project of the periodical "The New York Times." The authors of the project highlighted the role of slavery in the Revolutionary War, U.S. wealth, and emergence of New York City as the financial capital of the world. The implication of the failure of the 1619 essays to consider the global prevalence of slavery is noted. Also cited is the claim of the project that slavery contributed to U.S. exceptionalism.
