The article presents a case study of a 05-year-old infant boy with hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis during evaluation for an episode of hypothermia and hypoglycemia. Topics include prenatal ultrasound showing normal amniotic fuid index and normal-appearing kidneys; and undergoing a sepsis workup starting on empiric vancomycin, gentamicin, and acyclovir.
