The article focuses on Houston Area Law Libraries (HALL). HALL conducted several interesting seminars and conferences in 2003-04. In September 2003, six speakers spoke on a variety of current legal topics at the fall seminar: copyright and fair use, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, HIPAA, privacy, tort reform, and Eaton/corporate issues. Thirty-six people attended the seminar which is the major fund-raiser for HALL's scholarship fund. In March 2004, HALL participated in a joint meeting with the Southwestern Association of Law Libraries. It consisted of two days of exciting and informative sessions. In addition to the conference, a tour of the Fred Parks Law Library at South Texas College of Law was offered. About eighty-five people attended. A variety of continuing education topics were covered in HALL's monthly meetings during the past year. These included "Overall Health in Body, Mind, and Spirit"; the University of Houston's actions following the complete destruction of its law library during tropical storm Allison; cameras in the courtroom; and legislative history.
