- Abstract: The article is thematically focused on the issue of „infodemic", which represents a massive dissemination of true and false information. It is currently strongly associated with the new coronavirus that caused the global pandemic. This „information epidemic" makes it difficult for people to orientate themselves in credible sources and to make decisions based on them. Both the virus and the false and unverified information associated with it can be the same threat to human health, life and functioning in society. In this paper, some aspects of the issue of infodemic are briefly described: the subject, i.e., the different types and forms of false and unverified information and its effects on people. At the same time, specific examples and cases are given to illustrate the wide scale of this issue. The aim of the article is to define the concept of infodemic, to approach its basic characteristics and problems in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
