    • Abstract:
This article presents a case report related to an aggressive presentation of postpartum acute necrotizing pancreatitis. A patient was readmitted 19 days post-discharge with a 24-hour history of generalized abdominal pain, vomiting and feeling unwell. She was not jaundiced, but had a tachycardia and moderate elevation of blood pressure. Laboratory investigations showed normal electrolytes and renal function, but deranged liver function. Acute pancreatitis does complicate pregnancy and the reported incidence varies widely. The patient characteristics attributed to pregnancy pancreatitis seem to differ from non-pregnancy.
