    • Abstract:
The article examines the importance of the ecology of disease in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics discussed include the role of the victory of modern medicine over infectious disease in the marginalization of social environmental approaches to epidemiology in the mid-20th century, belief of Harvard ecologist Richard Levins that lifestyle changes will change human relations with pathogens, and tendency of capitalism to disregard the role of the environment in the lives of human beings.
