      The article discusses the proposal to publicly exclude pro-choice Catholic political leaders, such as U.S. President Joe R. Biden, from the Eucharist, as they support positions on abortion that depart from the teaching of the church. Topics covered include the damaging consequences of weaponizing the Eucharist as a tool in political warfare, the traditional theology of worthiness for reception of the Eucharist and the dimensions of the U.S. theology of unworthiness that deserve scrutiny.
