      In December 2020, a prominent Slovak historian, literary critic, essayist, and editor, Július Vanovič, died at the age of 85. He was persecuted by the communist regime in the 1950s, 1970s and 1980s. Several books by J. Vanovič encompassed the history of the town of Martin and the Turiec region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
