      This article presents news updates of theater activities in Columbus, Dayton, and Pittsburgh, as of October 8, 2004. Leading theatres are launching the season with major productions, from a new musical "Was," at Dayton's Human Race Theatre Company, to revivals of Broadway, staged by artistic director Ted Pappas at Pittsburgh Public Theater, and "Uncle Vanya," staged by and starring Artistic Director Geoffrey Nelson at Columbus' Contemporary American Theatre Company.
