The article focuses on the assessment and diagnosis of childhood apraxia of speech, a less commonly observed speech sound disorder, by speech-language pathologists. If suspected, SLP approach evaluation with a differential diagnosis ear to rule in and rule out sources of impairment. Tools used for a comprehensive child communication evaluation include standardized articulation and language tests, oral structural-functional exam and elicited speech samples.
