    • Abstract:
The article presents information regarding sleepwalking. Sleepwalking is a parasomnia — an undesirable physical phenomena accompanying delta non rapid eye movement sleep. It is common in childhood where there is always amnesia of the behaviour and is regarded here as developmental, without any pathological significance. In adults it may be a manifestation of an underlying psychological disorder or a psychiatric illness such as dissociative disorder. Although sleepwalking is understood to be a manifestation of rapid eye movement sleep, it's cause is, at present, uncertain. Some authors consider it to be a psychological disorder and advise treating it appropriately, others consider it to be almost normal as nearly everyone will sleepwalk at some time in their life.
