    • Abstract:
The article discusses how the portrayal of Rosie the Seamstress as American white women who are helping the U.S. government in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic by sewing face masks can push women of color, low-income women, and immigrant women to the background of the country's cultural and social imaginary. Also cited are the portrayal's effects to garment workers worldwide, the impacts of the pandemic to global supply chains and to garment workers like loss of jobs and unpaid back wages.
