- Abstract: Sharing or collaborative economy is an economic model based on sharing or exchange of unused or underused goods or services, free of charge or for a fee, directly from providers. The main goal is to make more efficient use of available natural and human resources. Sharing economy presents an alternative to traditional economic models based on hyper production and hyper consumption. Sharing economy initiatives operate through online platforms where supply and demand meet directly; to access these platforms, advanced knowledge of ICT is essential. The phenomenon of the sharing economy, which has been developing rapidly in Europe, is also addressed by the European Commission, by researching and providing measures for the appropriate response and regulation of its many forms. SHES project explores the development of a sharing economy in partner countries and in EU in general; in this article we present the results of this research. The focus is on good practices which could improve the lives of older people and have a positive impact on their independence, mobility and social inclusion, especially on non-profit, accessible and community based initiatives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
