      The article relates the experience of the author's interaction with acclaimed French writer Maryse Condé. Glover's fascination for the Surrealists and their aesthetic forbears resulted in many visits to those places in literature where beauty and anger, fantasy and interrogation, laughter and revolt combined to initiate both aesthetic and socio-political change. The article highlights the various events that ensued after their following interactions. Condé's remarkable ability to educate through provocation has been highlighted through the mention of some of her novels.
