Refusing Testing During a Pandemic.

An editorial is presented which discusses the challenges posed by people in the U.S. refusing testing for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID-19 disease. An overview of Americans' attitudes toward COVID-19 testing, including in regard to the quarantining of individuals who test positive, is provided. The medical personnel-patient relationship concerning the latter's decision-making capacity to refuse testing is discussed.
