    • Abstract:
This article presents information on religious beliefs of people in Rome, Italy. All roads led to Rome--perhaps a million visitors from all parts of the free world came to Italy by sea, land, air and even by foot to attend the unusual--and also unusually solemn and splendid ceremonies of the canonization in the Basilica of Saint Peter of six new saints of the Roman Catholic Church. Apparently the current Communist line of "appeasement" of Catholicism and of a new united front, this time not with the liberal Left hut with the Catholic Center against the threat of atomic war, which was started here in Italy some time ago, has now been extended to apply to France as well. In reality, however, the two movements are separated by marked differences, tactically and even more, humanly. So are, in fact, the anti-Communist movements of the two countries, even though they have in common their internal political divisions.
