    • Abstract:
This chapter discusses abortion as a choice among pregnant teenagers. Abortion means ending the pregnancy. It means removing the growing fetus and placenta from the uterus. After an abortion, women are no longer pregnant. Changing abortion laws affect the cost of abortion and the cost can vary from state to state. Costs also change because of differences in government funding of abortions. Some states provide financial help to low income women wanting abortions. Some health insurance covers abortions. Second-trimester abortions are a more serious procedure and are double or triple the cost of first-trimester abortions.
