      The article presents the semantic changes of the name Ali Baba by analyzing its occurrences in the Australian press between 1811 and 1993. It reports the term occurred 552 times, with increasing frequency in politically more active decades. It reports cumulative distribution function of occurrences is an S-shaped logistic curve, suggesting the spread of the name followed a diffusive innovation process, as in case of innovations, concepts, and ideologies in economic and political debates.
