Issues in nursing research - for nursing and nurses.

Departments of nursing in the higher education sector of Great Britain have a distinctive role to play in forging a link between teaching and research. Research becomes a categorical imperative for those who teach, without which one can only hand on untested traditions and superstitions about the practice of nursing. The concept of a partnership between research and nursing practice, education and management, has still to be developed. All successful partnerships are built upon mutual understanding and respect for each others' roles and responsibilities.
