    • Abstract:
The George Pataki Administration has earmarked $2 million in new funding to help childcare providers offer health insurance to their employees. The initiative will also assist in the recruitment and retention of quality staff. New York City Council Deputy Majority Leader, Bill Perkins, called childcare providers "saints" who deserve much more praise, financial support and work benefits than are currently provided. Paul Macielak, president of New York Health Plan Association, hailed the appropriation and said that his organization continues to seek innovative ways to address the problem of the uninsured.
