The Centrality of the Qura'n and Sunnah Dr. Kamal Hammadi Sufaieh Department of Qura'n Sciences and Islamic Education, College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Basrah Abstract Five theories have been proposed concerning the centrality of the Qura'n and Sunnah; they are : First, the centrality of the Qura'n. This theory was proposed in the beginning of Islam. Advocates of this theory call for the separation between the Qura'n and Sunnah, their evidence for this call is that all that a Muslim needs is found in the Qura'n . Second, the centrality of the Sunnah. Advocates of this theory take the interpretation of the Qura'n provided by the prophet as an evidence . Third, the centrality of the Qura'n and the subjection of the Sunnah. Advocates of this theory believe that the Qura'n is the main source of religion and that the Sunnah gets approval only after being compared with the Qura'n . Fourth, the centrality of the Sunnah and the subjection of the Qura'n. Advocates of this theory believe that the verses only provide support and the centrality is assigned for the narrations . Fifth, the centrality of the Qura'n and the Sunnah. This theory is the most famous one as it considers each of the Qura'n and Sunnah a root by itself. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

النظريا ت الت ي طرح ت ف محوري ة الكتاب والسن ة الاولى: محوري ة الكتا ب طرحت ف صدر الاسلا م ادلتهم عد م الاختلا ط ب ي الكتا ب والسن ة ث م ظهر ت ف القر ن الثالث عشر الهجري ادلته م كل م ا يحتاج الي ه المسلم موجو د ف الكتاب. وان السن ة المحكية غ ي معلومة الصدور من النبي )صَ لّ اللهُ عَلَيْ ه وَآل ه وسَلمَ ( . النظري ة الثانية : محوري ة السن ة وادلته م ان القران يبينه النبي )صَ لّ اللهُ عَلَيْ ه وَآل ه وسَلمَ ( وع لّ المسلم ي الاخذ بقو ل النبي أو اهل بيت ه عليه م السلا م . النظرية الثالثة: محورية الكتاب وتبعي ة السنة مع قبولهم بأخذ من السنة النبوي ة الا ان الاص ل ف الدين ه و الكتاب وحجيته ذاتي ة ام ا السن ة تأ ت بعد العر ض ع لّ الكتا ب وحجيته ا بالتبع . النظرية الرابعة: محورية السنة وتبعية الكتاب وهؤلاء مع انهم تمسكوا بالكتاب ولكن عملا جعلوا المحورية للروايات. النظري ة الخامسة: محوري ة الكتاب والسن ة وهذه النظري ة المشهور ة وهي ا ن ك ل من الكتاب والسنة اص ل بذاته وكلاهم ا منبع للاستدلال وكل له دور ه ف استنبا ط الاحكام الإسلامية .
