    • Abstract:
      The article analyzes the work of the Spanish historian Josep Fontana (1931-2018), an influential scholar and intellectual in the community of Spanish historians during the second half of the 20th century. His work focused on the genesis of the Spanish liberal revolution and contemporary society and the dissemination of the basic principles of the historian's work. He was the author of more than forty monographs and hundreds of articles, collaborations and conferences, and he also edited major collective works on Spanish historiography; moreover, he published ambitious works on World history in the 20th century, and was editorial advisor to some publishing houses which contributed to the modernization of history in Spain through the translation of foreign authors, especially those belonging to Anglo-Saxon Marxism.
