    • Abstract:
There have been relatively many telemedicine projects in Slovenia, but the majority of them has never reached the production phase, as they mostly end up in the development phase or as a pilot system and do not find their way into regular use within the health care system. The conditions for survival of telemedicine in the Slovene health care system are technical adequacy, quality and economic feasibility of the service. We surveyed the publicly accessible data on the telemedicine projects in Slovenia and tried to separate the active projects from the inactive ones. The active projects were assessed according to six criteria: operating regime, territorial coverage, type of telemedicine services, production scope, results and lifespan. It turned out that Teletransfusion, implemented by the Blood Transfusion Centre of Slovenia, is the largest telemedicine project in Slovenia, because it is a nation-wide system that covers all blood transfusion institutions involved in the supply of Slovene hospitals with blood. It has been in operation uninterruptedly for more than 13 years and has achieved the largest extent of telemedicine services with respect to the number of patients involved. The paper presents the Teletransfusion project in detail. It is a case of good practice, proving that in Slovenia, like elsewhere, the combination of appropriate technology, qualified staff, good management and sufficient funding can result in telemedicine providing health care services more optimally than the traditional way. • Abstract:
Aktivne smo ovrednotili na podlagi šestih kriterijev - režima obratovanja, pokritosti slovenskega prostora, vrste telemedicinskih storitev, obsega produkcije, rezultatov delovanja in življenjske dobe.
