CHRONIC INFLAMMATION AND MALIGNANT DISEASES. (English)
    • Abstract:
Lots of evidence supports the conclusion that chronic inflammation is associated with a predisposition to malignant tumors. Data suggest that different types of neoplasias develop in areas of bacterial, viral and parasitic infections, chemical irritants, chronic inflammation and abnormal immune responses. This review discusses some of the mechanisms that demonstrate a link between chronic inflammation and malignant processes as well as the direct relationship between the duration of the inflammatory process and the risk of carcinogenesis. The involvement of H. pylori in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer has been examined in details. Facts about the role of transcription factors and inflammatory mediators and cytokines in inducing pro-neoplastic mutations, inhibiting apoptotic processes, and stimulating angiogenesis in processes of initiation, progression, and metastasis of malignancies. Detailed knowledge of the molecular mechanisms of inflammation-associated neoplastic processes and their development may lead to new approaches to the prevention and treatment of malignanciesл.
