- Abstract:
The article discusses the significant role of a fatty substance called myelin in the capacity of the brain to learn and store memory. Topics explored include the neuroscientific theories about synaptic changes during learning, the increase in electrical impulse transmission which may be attributed to the structure of myelin, and the neural impulse transmission failures due to disorders that affect myelin such as multiple sclerosis.
