The article presents an important collection of letters for the study of the history of the Spanish empire of the late eighteenth century, located in the library of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, but uploaded and free access on the portal called The Count of Montemar Letters. It is about 300 letters from the family of the Count of Montemar, Diego Jose Carrillo de Albornoz and Bravo de Lagunas V count of Montemar, covering from 1761 to 1799. The letters coincide with important processes that occurred during the last decades of the Spanish regime in the U.S. that included the Bourbon reforms.
