    • Abstract:
      The article analyses features of innovative methods of teaching history that are adequate to the modernization processes in higher educational institution. The research is based on competent and active approaches to education. During the work, the analysis and synthesis of the content of sources relevant to the topic, as well as reflection and generalization of own experience were used. A fresh look on historical education is proposed as a means of forming students’ systemic thinking, creating in them holistic ideas about the historical process. It is argued that the university course of history is intended not only to give students sound subject knowledge, but also to form in them value orientations, skills, based on analysis of historical conflicts, objective and subjective factors of the development of society, to establish causal relationships, to assert, reasonably, their own position, to reiterate and broadcast information flows, that results in facilitating of penetration into the chosen professional sphere by the future specialists. Recommendations on the use of interactive methods of teaching history in a non-humanitarian institution of higher education and organization of students’ independent work are formulated.
