      The article discusses the guns used in the Johnson County War in Wyoming in late-19th century. Also cited are the participants in the war like rustlers, cowboys, hired guns, and homesteaders, the 1980 film "Heaven's Gate" about the war, the hanging by Carbon County cattleman Albert Bothwell and cohorts of small ranchers Ella "Cattle Kate" Watson and Jim Averell as the roots of the war, and some guns used like the .44-40-caliber Winchester Model 1873 and Colt Single Action Army revolver.
