Presents information on a research conducted by scientists at the U.S. Agricultural Research Service's Cereal Crops Research Unit in 2004 regarding resistance genes in rice linked to a gene in Magnaporthe grisea (M. grisea), a blast fungus which weakens and kills rice plants. Relationship between M. grisea and its rice plant host; System developed by scientists which applies the operative genes from both the rice and its pathogen.
