    • Abstract:
Sandia Labs in New Mexico is developing a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) for fuel cells. Nafion is an existing high-performance fuel cell PEM material. These could include smaller fuel cell stacks because of better heat rejection, said Sandia, enhanced water management and significant resistance to carbon monoxide poisoning. Imperial College fuel cell specialist Anthony Kucernak urges caution when interpreting the 80°C parametric data released by Sandia. For electric vehicle use, an 80°C fuel cell needs a big radiator.
