- Abstract:
The article presents a diary written by a Frenchmen, on January 7, 1865. He summarizes his meeting with the U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, giving him some information on Louis IX, the King of France. They entered a large room, very simply furnished in which a dozen persons were seated awaiting their turn. On the room walls, maps were hung over the fireplace, and a portrait of the U.S. President Andrew Jackson, whose hard and shrunken face bore the imprint of great energy; on the mantelpiece was a photograph of John Bright, the English statesman.
