    • Abstract:
Akron City Hospital surgeons are behind a $1 million robot designed to do minimally invasive surgery. Akron's Summa Health System, which owns Akron City, Cuyahoga Falls General and Saint Thomas hospitals, bought the robot as part of its Minimally Invasive Surgery Institute. It will be used to perform cardiac, general and orthopedic surgeries, said registered nurse Catherine Koppelmari, who also is a nurse executive and vice president of patient care services at Summa. When using the robot, surgeons do not touch their surgical instruments or their patients' bodies.
