    • Abstract:
Mary Ann Ponce launched the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival to empower filmmakers with a stage for their stories, to help her community grow and learn, and to honor her filmmaker son, who died at age 20 from leukemia. In addition to attracting filmmakers, the festival also attracts major film distributors. Adding to the festival, Ponce in 2018 launched the Illuminate event to inspire high-school students to learn what's happening outside of their communities. [Extracted from the article]
