    • Abstract:
The article presents author's comments on the review of his novel "Why She Didn't." The author protests against the framing of comparisons. He considers that his book is a pot-boiler. In all seriousness the author believes that much is to be said in favor of substituting some such system of criticism by partial plebiscite for the present system of individual reviewers. It would be perfectly sound business and perfectly honest business to find a half-dozen men of note who really like a book, and to print their opinions at space rates instead of letting the book take its chances at the hands of some almost unknown reviewer.
