    • Abstract:
This article presents information about the selling season in Paris, France. In all the sales, the high prices have been for objects of permanent intrinsic costliness or passing fashionable ostentation. A very renowned collection formed by the widow of a forgotten American expatriate of a generation ago had its jewels and precious stones sold for amazing prices. It was the same for tapestries and furniture in styles which are now much in vogue. On the contrary, art which is of permanent value, which will be as interesting in a, hundred years to come as it was a hundred years ago and is now to sane human eyes, has not impressed the new buyers.
